Scout and After-School Programs
Visions of a
Victorian Childhood
This program is available through the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. For information and to book a program, visit The LINK Guide on the council's website.
Manners Tea
Join us for an 1890s tea party! How were manners and etiquette different for young girls in the Victorian age? Scouts make a calling card, take a tour of The Hermitage, and enjoy a tea party, all while learning about the manners of the past!
Hermitage House Tours
Age-appropriate guided tours of The Hermitage are available for Scout troops and other after-school groups. Tours include information about the home's Gothic Revival architecture, George Washington’s visit to the property, and the four generations of the Rosencrantz family who owned The Hermitage from 1807 until 1970.
Colonial Times
How was life different for people during colonial times? Scouts become history detectives by using hands-on experiences to explore objects from the past. This program features a partial tour of The Hermitage, with a focus on the 1770s section of the historic house.
Revolutionary War
and Civil War Programs
Discover what life was like for the families of The Hermitage during the
American Revolutionary or the Civil War. The program includes a full tour of the historic
Hermitage.
All programs are held at the Hermitage Education & Conference Center and include a guided tour of the historic house museum.
